I’ve been wanting to start blogging my sessions for a while now, I’ve just always felt a little intimidated sitting down and putting it all into words. But there’s no better time to start than now.
I’m taking it back to one of my earlier sessions from September 2024, when I had the opportunity to capture such a special milestone—a gender reveal for one of the sweetest couples.
This session was extra meaningful to me because they were one of my very first paying clients. I had previously photographed their pregnancy announcement, so getting to be a part of another chapter in their story made it even more special.
We talked through a few different location options and ultimately chose Lakewood Park in Phenix City, Alabama. The weather had other plans for us, though—it was overcast with a chance of rain, so we ended up setting up under one of the park’s pavilions. Even with the change of plans, everything came together so beautifully, and it created such a cozy, intimate feel.
For the reveal, they brought a small cake from a local bakery in Columbus, Georgia. Inside, the icing held the surprise—either pink or blue. They placed wine glasses on top of the cake, looked at each other, and pressed them down together. After cutting into the cake, they pulled the glasses back and shared the moment as they found out they were having a… boy!
It was such a sweet and intimate reveal, and I feel so honored to have been there to capture it for them. These are the kinds of moments that make what I do so meaningful.
